I was at the park this morning where a group of people gather with their furry friends. Jack, my furry friend, was adopted from the SPCA. He has some issues.
One of those issues is his comfort level around other dogs. He tends to go in aggressively and assert himself-as in don't mess with me because I am afraid of you.
As a consequence he has never had the benefit of being part of a pack and socializing with other dogs.
I kept trying. And one morning I found this group who was very allowing of his behaviour. Fortunately, it never lasts very long, once he realizes that he is safe. Isn't that what we all want to feel?
So throughout the past week I have been returning to the park and I have watched a transformation unfold before me. He has become comfortable with the other dogs and he looks forward to those visits. Today was another milestone. I had stayed later while chatting with a new friend ( a story for another time) and two dogwalkers showed up with leashed dogs of varying sizes. Jack took his cue from Bellina and was calm and accepting of the new arrivals. This was brand new behaviour and one I was thrilled to witness.
Jack was willing to let his story go. The pack energy supported being at ease.
This caused me to reflect on pack energy as it relates to our lives. Who do I surround myself with and does their energy support who I am? Do I feel safe? Can I be me?
Mostly, I can hold my own. I didn't use to but now I can. But when you can't hold your own in the energies of those that surround you, we tend to fold and mutilate our energy in order to fit in, unless you find a pack that supports who you be. Jack found a pack that did just that!
So, I want you ask yourself if you have fold and mutilate or you have found " a pack" that supports who you be. Folding and mutilating is hard work. When you make yourself smaller in order to fit in, a part of you never feels safe. When we aren't authentic in our being we never feel safe.
The right people will light you up and encourage you to be more than you have allowed yourself to be. They will allow you to be who you are without judgment. And in that allowing you will feel safe.
The goal is to feel safe irregardless of what is unfolding around you, but for the times when you struggle it is good to be in a pack energy of non-judgment and allowing. Just like Jack, you will breathe a sigh of relief and relax into the essence of who you be.
A magnificent being of light and love currently inhabiting a physical body in order to experience life on planet earth. Sometimes the body is furry and sometimes it isn't.
