![]() This morning on Facebook, a friend shared a link to an about to be aired National Geographic documentary on factory farming. I dare you to watch the link. National Geographic carries weight. I shared the link, as I am doing now because I believe that we need to know where our meat comes from. I am not a vegetarian but I don't consume a lot of meat. The meat I do consume is mainly organic. After watching this, it will be the only meat I consume. I am hopeful that organic practices do not allow for the inhumane treatment of animals. Factory farms are large organizations. The piggies there are not running free in pens. There are wrenched from their mother shortly after birth. Mom is kept in a small gesetation cage. Quite a contrast to the picture in my blog. How they are killed is an entirely other story. I believe that would benefit us to treat our food animals well. If we can't do that when we don't deserve to eat meat. These farms are not the farms of our grandparents. They, the animals are in our care and keeping. I also believe that our food contain energies. What energies are in our meat that is raised inhumanely? Is that the cause the many illnesses that rampant? Organic farmers will tell you that it cost them less in vet bills than non-organic. If you raise animals organically, it is a whole different ball game. They need space to roam. You won't find them crammed together. That just stresses animals out and leaves them susceptible to disease. So, what is the true cost of the meals on our table and are you willing to continue to support the factory farm practices? We all have a choice and we each one of us can make a statment with the way we spend our money. Money talks. Make your money matter.
