![]() Do you remember the scare about Ebola? How about the scare of the avian or the swine flu? Do you remember the fear that grew after that fatal day of 9/11? How many things have faded from your memory-until I mentioned them again? What new things will the media feed us? Last night the local news did a segment on the growing trend of beards and the bacteria that grows in them. I didn't watch it. (smile) The media is in the business of holding us captive to their station and the news as they find it and see it. Each station decides what they will air. They also decide what spin they will put on a particular piece. Are you letting yourself be influenced by the news that permeates our society? Does it stop you from living your life? Mostly it doesn't, but what it does can be far more insidious. If you let the news influence you, you will be affected by it. You may find yourself handcuffed by fear. I read this from Neale Donald Walsch this morning in this book Home With God. "Everything is as it appears. And appearances are based on perceptions. And perceptions are based on perspectives, and perspectives are not objective. They are subjective. They are not something that you experience they are something that you choose." If you focus on the current scare you will create more scary things in your world. But, if you choose to find the joy in life-wherever you can you will find more joy. Sounds like a good thing to me!
